
A 25-year veteran of the Hospitality Industry, Mr. Baxters’ experience includes multi-property operations oversight, asset management for large institutional owners, and significant acquisition and development experience. A graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy, he received his B.S. from The School of Hotel Administration, Cornell University and his M.B.A with a concentration in Marketing from The A.B. Freeman School of Business, Tulane University.
Prior to joining Palmer Hospitality Group, Phil Baxter served as Executive Vice President of Development of ILX Resorts. Prior thereto Mr. Baxter spent 14 years with Tishman Hotel Corporation where he served in a variety of real estate roles, being intimately involved in over $500 million of hotel transactions. As regional operations executive and as asset manager, a selection of his assignments include: The Ritz-Carlton Kapalua, the Westin Rio Mar Beach Resort, The Hay-Adams, The Ritz-Carlton Mauna Lani (now the Fairmont Orchid), the Hyatt St. John (now the Westin St. John), the Four Points by Sheraton LAX, the Marriott Warner Center, the Grand Palazzo (now The Ritz-Carlton St. Thomas), the Eldorado Hotel, and the Renaissance Vinoy. Mr. Baxter has been featured and quoted in New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Travel & Leisure, US News & World Report, Travel Weekly, Business Travel News, Market Watch, Restaurant Business, Travel Holiday, Meetings West, Successful Meetings, America West Magazine, Boutique Design, and Bon Appetit.
Prior to joining Tishman, Baxter held positions with South Seas Resort Limited Partnership, with Park Lane Hotels International, and with Rockresorts at Caneel Bay and Little Dix Bay. Mr. Baxter is a member of the Cornell Hotel Society and was formerly an advisory board member for Starwood’s Four Points brand.
